You're so Vane.
I bet you think this app is about you?
Know exactly how it will feel.
A weather vane reads which way the wind blows. Vane reads where you actually are — your microsite, your body, your crew, your gear — and grounds every answer to your specific reality. Not the regional average. What you'll feel.
Travel weather, kid + crew tracking, virtual closet, and asset intelligence — in one app.
iOS coming soon. Get an email the moment Vane hits the App Store.
What you get
Six pillars. One app.
All built around you.
Find My Kids · Find My Crew
Geofence the park, the campsite, the Disneyland gate. Send a Vane link to a kid's phone — they tap Share and you see their position. Or drop a SmartThings tag in a backpack or on a pet collar. Either path pings you the second they wander past the fence you drew. Radius 100 m to 1 km, 30-min dedup so you aren't spammed.
Virtual Closet + Gear AI
Snap your wardrobe, your camera bag, your camping kit, your laptop pile. Vane builds a private library of what you actually own — clothes, gear, electronics, layers — then recommends outfits and packing lists from your stuff, not a generic catalog.
Track + Protect Your Stuff
Register the trailer, the boat, the e-bike, the high-end skis, the camera rig, the laptop, the rifle. Tag it, anchor it to its spot, and Vane watches for movement. The second something drifts, you get the alert AND Vane locks down location history, conditions, serial #, and policy data into a one-tap incident report for police + insurance.
AI Trip Briefs
Personalized packing for every destination. Every item explained, not just listed — built around your body, your crew, your virtual closet, and the actual conditions you'll meet.
Event Day Intel
Concerts, games, weddings, outdoor events. Venue weather + what to wear + when to leave + parking + bag policy. Show up ready instead of guessing what the venue is going to be like.
Crew Mode
Traveling with kids, elderly, pets, or someone with mobility needs? Everyone's profile factored in. Vane plans for the slowest member of the group, not the average traveler.
How it works
Three steps to never being unprepared again.
Tell Vane about you
One profile. Hot or cold? Allergies? Kids in tow? UV-sensitive? Vane reads every condition through your specific lens.
Open the app
Today's home brief, a trip plan, or an event-day forecast. Vane's proprietary AI grounds the weather to your microsite, your profile, and your gear — and gives you one specific recommendation, not a dump of numbers.
Go prepared
Packing list, daily outfit, safety alerts, asset logs. Built for exactly your situation — not the median weather-app user.
Far from anywhere
When you go off the grid,
Vane goes with you.
Built for the people whose plans don't end at the nearest cell tower.
Off the grid? Vane stays with you.
Hand Vane your Garmin inReach MapShare key and link your Starlink dish profile. The second cell service drops, your last known location keeps relaying via satellite — your tether contact sees where you are even if you can't reply. Send an inReach 'OK Check-In' and Vane auto-resets the tether. Built for backcountry hunts, blue-water sailing, alpine traverses, and remote work crews.
Stolen? Vane already has the proof.
Anchor the trailer at the campsite. Anchor the e-bike at the rack. Anchor the gun safe in the cabin. The second a tagged item drifts more than 50 ft from where you left it — and you aren't within 300 ft — Vane fires the alert and starts compiling: GPS history, conditions, serial #, brand, purchase value, insurance policy. Generate a police-ready + insurance-ready incident PDF in two taps.
No signal coming? Cache the trip first.
Tap Save for offline on a city, a trip, a campsite, a route. Vane bundles five days of forecast plus camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, marine, beach, and aviation intel into your device. Five-day TTL so it's still good when you arrive. Service worker returns the cached brief instantly — no spinner, no Wi-Fi, no "loading…".

The Grounding Engine
The more you use Vane,
the more accurate it gets — for you.
Every other weather app gives the same forecast to every phone in your zip code. Vane is different. Our proprietary AI learns from what we served you and what actually happened — your check-ins, your “felt warmer than that,” your gear's logged conditions — and grounds the next forecast to your exact microsite.
The marina is warmer than the airport sensor. Your backyard catches more wind than the block over. The east-facing trailhead bakes thirty minutes earlier than the forecast says. Vane figures it out — and gets sharper every trip you take.
Built for the hyper-local truth, not the regional average.

Claim-ready weather documentation
for insurance claims.
Most weather apps tell you what happened. Vane proves it. Register your gear, car, boat, home, or firearms — Vane logs the conditions they actually experienced. Location-stamped. Timestamped. Tied to a real report ID.
Hail damage. Hurricane. Flood. Humidity that ruined your safe. Generate a printable, claim-ready PDF in two taps. Hand it to your insurance carrier with confidence.
Forensic Weather Reports are a Vane Diamond feature. No other weather app on the store does this.
Reports are documentation aids built from third-party weather data (document ID, timestamp, coordinates, and source attribution). Vane does not guarantee claim acceptance or legal admissibility — your insurer or counsel determines how the documentation is used.

FAQ
Honest answers.
Is Vane just another weather app?
No. Most weather apps tell you a number. Vane uses weather as input and gives you a recommendation — what to wear, what to bring, what to protect, what to log. The weather is the means; the answer is the product.
Do I need to sign up to use it?
No. Free tier works without an account — real-time weather + AI fit check. Sign up only when you want to save trips, scan your wardrobe, register gear, or use Sentinel safety features.
What does 'claim-ready weather documentation' actually mean?
Each Forensic Weather Report has a real document ID (VWL-XXXX), timestamp, location coordinates, and source attribution to specific third-party weather data providers — structured documentation you can hand to an insurer, not a screenshot of yesterday's forecast. It's a documentation aid; Vane doesn't guarantee claim acceptance or legal admissibility.
Why 'You're so Vane'?
A wink at the Carly Simon song. (And, in fairness, the app does watch you.) The brand voice that landed first; the functionality came after.
Will Sentinel features work without buying extra hardware?
Some Sentinel features (theft anchor, geofence) integrate with existing SmartThings tags you may already own. The app tells you which features need what when you set them up — and which work standalone with your phone's GPS.
What about my data?
Your health profile, crew, and gear info stay on our servers. We don't sell data or run ad networks. AI processing partners (Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini) see only what's necessary for a specific recommendation, never your full profile.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. All paid tiers (Gold, Diamond, Guide) are annual and no-commitment — cancel from Profile and your access continues through the paid year.
When does iOS launch?
Apple TestFlight build is in preparation. App Store launch follows our submission review (typically 1–7 days after upload).
Be ready for every condition.
Know where your kids are. Know what to pack. Know where your stuff sits. Vane runs the watch-your-back layer of your travel and daily life.
Yes, like the song. Carly's been singing about us for fifty years; we just finally built the app.
